How to determine the year of manufacture of the loader?

The loader should have an identification plate on which the model of the loader, serial number, year-month of release, total weight, load-carrying capacity, sizes of wheels of forward and back, type of rubber, the diagram of loads, etc. are indicated.

Very often, dishonest suppliers who do not have the opportunity to carry a guarantee and service for the forklifts sold deliberately mislead the buyers, changing (in the price list, certificate, contract) the year of production of the loading equipment used. Ten-year loader becomes a five-year old. When ordering spare parts, the customer learns that the year of manufacture of the truck specified by the seller does not correspond to reality. In addition, for the loaders of the output until 1995, the manufacturer's plate is often missing or does not indicate the year of manufacture of the loader. It is also possible that in the process of using the forklift truck, during its repair and painting, the plate was lost. In these cases, the year of manufacture of the loader can be specified roughly. For your convenience in determining and checking the years of production of forklifts, we give the list of years of production of some forklifts:

Toyota FG18 / 23 / engine 4P / was produced from April 1978 to May 1982

Toyota FD18 / 23/28 / engine 2J / was produced from April 1978 to May 1982

Toyota 2FG30 / engine 5P / was produced from April 1978 to August 1986

Toyota 3FG30 / engine 4P / was produced from April 1978 to May 1982

Toyota 4FG15 / engine 4P / was produced from April 1978 to August 1986

Toyota 5FG15 / engine 4P / was produced from May 1986 to September 1989

Toyota 5FG15 / engine 5K / was produced from September 1989 to January 1994

Toyota 6FG15 / engine 5K / was produced from January 1994 to September 1998

Toyota 7FG15 / engine 5K / was produced from August 1998 to 2006

Toyota 8FG15 from 2006

Toyota forklift milestones

The company itself was founded at the end of the 19th century by a man named Sakichi Toyoda. He was the first in Japan to develop and set up mass production of weaving power machines. They significantly increased the efficiency of the textile industry, greatly increasing the production of fabrics. In the future, the company mastered all new areas of activity. In 1939, the first forklift from Toyota appeared. It was an ultra-modern 3-ton electric vehicle for its time. But due to the Second World War, only a few test samples were released, which never received mass use.

Until the early 1950s, Japanese self-propelled storage equipment did not develop. The Toyota company solved other, military tasks, and after the start of the American occupation, the company was on the verge of bankruptcy. But since the fifties, it was the Americans who became one of the first customers of Japanese forklift trucks. It was then that the mass production of the Toyota loader began. In 1955, the world saw a 1-ton model with a gasoline engine. She has proven herself well both at industrial facilities and in ports, at military bases. Thanks to its high performance and affordable price, Toyota has firmly established itself as a leader in the domestic Japanese forklift market.

By the mid-60s, Toyota forklifts enter the international market. Small orders started coming in as early as 1964. But the first truly large order came in 1965. The management of the port of Singapore, one of the largest in the world, has ordered more than 150 Toyota forklifts. Since that time, warehouse equipment from this Japanese manufacturer has appeared in the Asian region, purchased in bulk in the USSR, and enters the markets of the USA and France. Until 1986, the volume of production of loaders increased until it reached the mark of 200,000 units of sold equipment.

Since 1975, the trend to fight exhaust gases has been gaining momentum in the world. Toyota engineers have taken the green technology trend very seriously. Since that time, each generation of loading equipment has a lower level of fuel consumption than previous, earlier models. Toyota loaders are equipped with special filters, hybrid engines are being developed, and special attention is paid to the production of electric forklifts.

By the early 1990s, Japan was facing a massive economic crisis. The classic models of Toyota forklifts turned out to be of little demand, sales fell or remained at the same level. The company could not compete with European manufacturers, suffered losses from new customs obstacles. Therefore, the stake was again placed on the domestic Japanese market, namely on medium and small businesses. In 1994, a small loader 6FG / FD was released with a small payload and an affordable price. This decision, combined with the end of the economic recession in the United States, allowed the company to return to its leadership position. By 1995, the number of sold vehicles reached 1,000,000 units. Toyota Corporation is actively buying up European business, launching production in the US and France. And finally, in 1999, the seventh generation of Toyota forklifts with a load capacity of 1-3.5 tons was released. As it turned out, this range of warehouse equipment was the most in demand.

By 2003, the Japanese company released a new type of electric forklift model 7FB, which has proven itself well in indoor and outdoor work sites with moderate temperatures. A special line of heavy-duty loaders was developed specifically for the CIS countries. They were distinguished by greater durability, stability and long-term influence of temperatures below -5°C. The year 2006 was a significant year for Toyota forklifts. It was then that the company received worldwide recognition as a leader in sales of floor equipment for loading and unloading, warehouse work. Until 2019 inclusive, the company holds its positions, and constantly leads the TOP-10 loader manufacturers.
