Mahindra, first of all, these are Indian tractors (as evidenced by the first part of the factory brand (Mahindra). But they are produced at a joint venture in China, so the second part of the name appeared - FengShou. But international cooperation does not end there. Three-cylinder water-cooled engines ( 24 hp - models FS 240/244 and 35 hp - model FS 354) are produced under license from the world famous Japanese company Kubota Corporation, founded in Osaka in 1890. It has been producing diesel engines since the 30s of the past century and is the world leader in this segment.
Tractors FS 244 and FS 354 are all-wheel drive. Consumers for the first time received equipment of this class with a front drive axle. Everyone is well aware of the old "little horses" - economical and easy to use. But with their relatively small weight, they sometimes turned out to be ineffective in difficult operations, for example, plowing. Lacked good grip wheels with the ground.
Taking into account the wishes of Ukrainian farmers, the manufacturer has eliminated this drawback. Now the weight, and hence the tractive effort, is distributed to all four wheels.
But that's not all. The units are provided with removable additional loaders - on the rear wheels and the front of the frame. Now, if necessary, small tractors are able to perform the work feasible for their larger counterparts. At the same time, they have not lost their former advantages: efficiency, maneuverability, ease of maintenance and other highly valued qualities.
What innovations and amenities can boast of a Mahindra FengShou FS tractor?
They have a sprung adjustable seat and power steering - tractors of this class have never been equipped with such a function.
The larger of the brothers - model 354, easily recognizable by a strong safety arc that will protect the tractor operator in a critical situation.
Of course, the tractors are equipped with a starter, modern lighting equipment: headlights, brake lights and turns. On the instrument panels there are sensors for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level in the tank, and battery charging. There are even two spherical rear-view mirrors so that the driver turns his head less, and uses it for its intended purpose - thinking.
Particularly noteworthy is the solid rear linkage with hydraulic drive, as well as the two-speed power take-off shaft, which increases the options for using tractors almost to infinity. There is also a rear axle lock, as well as a separate braking function for the rear wheels. In a word, small tractors are equipped with all the functions that large, modern and, for this reason, very expensive machines are usually equipped with.
It is important that the tractors are simple, unpretentious and easy to maintain. It is enough to periodically change the oil and clean the air filter and the equipment will work for many years. All filler and drain plugs are easily accessible and colored so that even a non-technical person can find them and not confuse them.
Concluding my acquaintance with the small tractors of the Mahindra FengShou company, which, by the way, are supplied in large quantities to the EU countries, I would like to dwell on the following. For the first time in the years of independence, such reliable cars of this class with such a huge list of functions and equipment have appeared in our country. Representatives of the supplier's company, Miniagrotekhnika, declare that there is nothing similar, including in terms of price / quality ratio.
Since the late 1990s, India has begun a systematic modernization of military equipment. Mahindra has been involved with defense systems since 1947 when the company became an importer, assembler and adapter for the iconic Willys Jeeps used in World War II. Since then, it has perfected itself in the design and construction of its own line of armored vehicles to become the largest supplier to the government.
