History of the brand FOTON / Foton

The Chinese company FOTON (Beiqi Foton Motor Co. Ltd.) is a relatively young automaker. It was founded on August 28, 1996. Initially, it was a state-owned company with a holding structure. It contains various types of ownership, and the company's shares are listed on the stock exchange. Beiqi Foton Motor Co., Ltd. operates in a variety of regions and sectors of the economy. Foton is headquartered in Chang Ping, Beijing. The history of the Foton brand begins with its registration in 1996 in Beijing under the name Beiqi Foton Motor Co., Ltd. Already by 1998, the company's shares were listed on the stock exchange, and a year later the brand was awarded the title of "King of Light Trucks". Towards the new millennium, Beiqi Foton Motor Co., Ltd. announced a new development strategy, consisting of several stages, which will be implemented from 2001 to 2006. Active development and implementation of several new development platforms begins.

In 2001, Beiqi Foton Motor Co., Ltd. creates a strategy by which it will develop commercial road transport. A year later, serious investments in the business in the amount of 1 billion yuan are carried out. These funds were mainly directed to the creation and development of a new production base for heavy trucks of the Auman model range. In the same year, the construction of production facilities for commercial vehicles is completed. The corporate identity and symbolism of the Foton brand is created and implemented. In 2004, the basic idea is put forward that Foton should take as a model the management strategy of General Motors Corporation, and in addition, seek to adopt the best aspects of operational management of production from Toyota. This year is also the year of the launch of a new official service support hotline in the company's call center. The release of the millionth car of the Foton brand is celebrated. The company's new development officially goes on sale: the Foton Auv intercity tourist bus.

In 2005, the Chinese TV channel hosts the "My Favorite Chinese Brand" award, and Foton receives this honorary title as the best commercial vehicle manufacturer. At the beginning of 2006, Foton enters the third phase of its development and sets new goals for itself. According to the chosen course, Foton begins to actively improve the quality of its products, and in addition, the desire to reduce product costs and increase globalization appears on the list of priority development tasks. In 2009, Foton founded Foton Motor. Two years later, the company begins production of the Tunland pickup truck. In 2013, Foton expands its model range with the View CS2 minivan. In 2016, the first Foton Motor dealerships are opened, the start of official sales of the Tunland pickup truck of the new Sauvana SUV is announced. Today, Foton is actively developing its independent intellectual property rights and brand independence. Beiqi Foton Motor Co., Ltd. seeks to build up international relations and popularize its products around the world.
