Atlas (full name Atlas Maschinen GmbH) was founded by Heinrich Weyhausen in Germany in 1919 and registered as a trademark. And in 1921, the production of agricultural machinery began.
In 1950, the company released the first fully hydraulic excavator, the appearance of which completely changes the industry of construction and special equipment.
And already in 1982, the company launched the production of special equipment, new by that standards (hydraulic loading machines, hydraulic loaders).
1986 became a landmark year, as the Atlas trademark, under which the products were manufactured, changed the name of the company to Atlas Weyhausen GmbH.
In 2000, a controlling stake was in the hands of Terex Corporation, which sold them in 2010 and today all products are manufactured under two trademarks - Atlas and Kaelble.
In 2001, Atlas is acquired by Terex, a large construction and mining equipment concern, which is the third largest in the world.
In 2002, Atlas bought out the entire Kaelble plant from the Bulgarian industrial group BIG and began to produce L420, L450 loaders and the W804 excavator.
In 2019, Atlas celebrated 100 years since the founding of the company.
Today, Atlas produces various special and construction equipment, namely: tracked, wheeled and rail excavators, loader cranes, wheel front loaders, mounted hydraulic cutters for excavators, scrap loaders, as well as all spare parts for its equipment.
